Re: Interesting Article:

This article has points, but I don't exactly agree with it either. hm, I already knew we were in a completely uncreative age... That's why you haven't heard any good music on the radio in 4 years Stuff which people know and like sells more then unknown stuff, and that's generally garunteed. It's as ...

As you can see, you don't need a powerful PC unless your serving lots of customers at the same time.

Re: Portal - FREE until May 24th!

I don't think it's free until May 24th (Steam often posts games that are free to play for X days) but rather, if you get steam and activate portal's download before May 24th the game is free for life.

Not a bad way to suck in those mac users!

Re: Point Clouds as Basis for 3D Computer Graphics Breakthrough

I saw this a while back. It's fake. Hows the taste of your Red Herring? Urlz As for claims that Unlimited Detail can do real-time graphics rendering on a machine with a single-core processor and no graphics card, Nvidia people say they’re sceptical. Searching through trillions of points of data wo...

Re: Norway, where prison life is better than daily life?

It will be VERY interesting to see how this goes. In some ways I do agree with it, Violence begets Violence . Many people who end up in prison aren't that well off in the head, and It can't be mentally healthy staying in a prison cell. It just sends a bad picture of life. On the other side, innocent...

Re: Halp

An int is obviously not a string. Having said that, numeric to string/string to numberic is a royal pain in the ass for something seemingly so easy. Generally it works something like this. Note that it's for a std::string and I'm almost certain. http://notfaq.wordpress.com/2006/08/30/c-convert-int-t...

Re: using functions

Your functions in the second example need to be pass by reference. void candlestick(int&); void setflame(int&); edit: Wait, hold on, I'm drunk. You're doing something different, I think. That's true, however References are far beyond Randi's skill currently, hence why I didn't mention it. R...

Re: using functions

If I remember how globals work in c++ (the closest I use is namespace variables, globals should never need to be used), the first one should work fine once you fixed the compile errors. Why didn't you simply test it? Also, each function definition needs the return type, in this case, void before the...

Re: Removing glow around pictures

This is your circle enlarged by 800% AA.png The left one is what it is like now. A colorkey works by removing one specific color while keeping the rest there. The right one is the pink removed as a colorkey would. Notice how there are different shades between pink and black? That's the effect of Ant...

Re: Humble Indie Bundle

Just got this in email. I have a small announcement you might be interested in. This morning, I was talking to fellow indie studio Amanita Design. They wanted to donate to the Humble Indie Bundle too -- but in a unique way. They decided to donate their award-winning, cross-platform game, Samorost 2,...

Re: VC++ 2010 Express Release Problem

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package Well that explains everything. There has been redistributable VisualC Redist packages for each major version of VS. I don't know what they actually do. You'd think Microsoft would be able to compile an exe without needing to use another helper packa...
