I've always done my devving on a console and have never really ran my apps/games on a console, but I would love to see my game on a PS2 or a handheld like a PSP.

Which console do you guys recommend devving on?

Stay the fuck away from the PS2. Even commercial development on it with commercial libraries was supposed to be hell. At least the PSP homebrew SDK is workable...

Of course you really should choose the Dreamcast.

What are the steps for devvin on Dreamcast? Would I need to mod the system to run my games?

Really? I found the forums on http://dcemulation.org to be extremely helpful (and a bit more aesthetically pleasing as well :P).

Is there a legal way to do homebrew cartridges for the NES or SNES?
That would be a dream.
Some way without hacking?
I realize it would probably have to be close to machine code... still.

Is it possible, definitely. Is it easy, doubtful. Is it legal, no. But what is?

OK. I did some more reasearch on this.

It appears that it can be done legally, but probably only if you don't hack an existing cartridge.

Dreamcast and Wii are probably the easiest to dev for I'd say. Well I don't know how the wii is anymore, I know it was easy a couple of years ago.
