So now there's version numbers for my games. Helps organize things. Lets go see what happened shall we?
Zombie Outrage 2 Version 0.302
  • Added new weapons (Shotgun Remade, Flame Thrower Remade, Deagle, Rifle
  • Graphic Changes
  • New Fonts
  • Engine Tweak Updates
  • Zombie hit damage icons
  • Total Kills and total damage inflicted
New Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxrlEbPTYoE

Zombie Outrage 2 Version 0.303
  • AUTO UPDATER PROGRAM!!!!!
My main problem today was making an easy safe way to update the game. I knew that going back and forth on sites downloading can be a pain. And plus, what if you don't want to download all the resources? Just the .exe? Well now you can with this updater. ;D

Hey what did you compile this with? I'd assume Visual C++?

Dang... I wanted to play this too :/. For some odd reason, anything that uses OpenGL and is compiled with MSVC++ crashes on my computer. When compiled with anything else, it works fine :o. XD... But it looks good :D!

It works quite nicely in wine... though I noticed that this build doesn't seem to have dynamic light/shadow :|

Yeah, it's currently not being used. All the lights in use have dynamic to false. That's because it seems to work nicely without it and it currently looks better. BUT, I am going to find a use for it so don't worry.

Also, version 0.304 is released, and there's a bit of a mihap that happened. I updated the updater. D:

This means that you need to re-download from the site again, BUT, this should be the last toime that you'll have to since the updater is more dynamic and flexible.

I also fixed some bugs with the bullets not hitting. Now I'm using line detection.

Finally, I added piercing bullets. The rifle's bullets can go through to up to 50 zombies. >: D

Sorry for the mayhem, releasing is a bitch. D:

Amen!

However, even despite this, I must say that I'm pretty impressed by the frequency of updates so far. Keep up the good work (if that's not a cliche (which I think it probably is.)) I like brackets :).

... I don't remember saying that, but Austech did. Anyway, completely agree with you!

This isn't in a release yet since it's not very polished and it's a little glitchy, but I'm working on making the single player mode, which is currently the most playable game mode in Zombie Outrage 2, networked.

Master Server and the Game

As you can see, with the High Score table, it fills up the empty spot of the bottom of the main menu, making it more interesting to watch. The high score list goes up to 10 people, they scroll up. When the 10 scores reach the top, the list repeats and scrolls back from the bottom.

Image

When you first start the game you're prompt to type in a user name. This is the name that will be posted to the high scores.

So what do you think? Any ideas on improvement or things that sound fun?

And as always, thanks for reading. : )

I think it's freakin awesome so far. More weapons / different zombie scenarios would be fun. Obstacles in the level would make it more interesting too.

More weapons and give a small area of light directly around the player (just so they can see a little better and can actually survive the fully-dark periods). Also, make the zombies a little slower. As it is, you can be trapped in a horde of zombies but can't shotgun your way out. What's with that?

Version 0.305
Download at http://theaustech.110mb.com/ZO2.php

    What's New
    • Player Score List (Will be explained further down)
    • Slight Change in Graphics - Green Zombies, Red Player
    • Download Updater - On the Site you download the updater, not the whole game. Think of it as an installer
    Player Score List

    What it does
The Player score list is a list that now appears at the main menu of the game. This list shows the high scores, player names, and all scores (and names) of people that played single player.

How Do I get on the list?
You get on the list by playing single player. If you die or wish to return back to the menu, your username and score is sent to the server, where it will be listed.

Can I rely on this to work?
You can almost 100% rely on this server to be up. The way it works is the data being saved, send, and received is all coming in and out of my website, http://theaustech.110mb.com/ . Whenever the website is up (which has never been down as far as I am aware), the servers will be able to run.

The game asks for a username at the beginning?
This username is the name that will be sent to the server. You don't need to register, have a password, or any of that stuff. Just choose a name, play, and score! >:D

    Other Added Items and Misc.
    • Fixed Close Window - The game window is now unchangeable. Stretching the window caused visual mistakes, so now the window is forced at it's 800x600 resolution. You can move the window, and minimize it, just not resize it.
