Great, now you need to pay to view YouTube videos.
Not only does this go against YouTube's foundation, but it's one of the worst business moves in fucking history.
I'm an altogether bad-natured Cupid.

Seriously, as a viewer who supports, subscribes, and also helps promote somebody else's Youtube videos, I would feel pretty damn betrayed if I logged on one day to find that I now have to pay money to watch the videos...

Seriously, any channel that actually does the "rental" bullshit is committing Youtubian suicide.

I think this is fine for maybe some videos, I really don't know, but not for just 5 minute little videos of shit.
$0.99 may not be that much, but it's a lot when you want to watch a lot of videos from someone, and I think it's stupid to charge money for your content, YouTube isn't about paying and shit, it's about expressing yourself (for the most part).

I don't know, I know no matter what kind of content I put on YouTube and even if I got super famous on YouTube for whatever reason, I still would never charge a cent for people to watch my videos, because that's just wrong.
But hey, that's just me.
There's no place like ~/

Man, unless they are putting a lot of production value into those videos, then I don't know. I've seen a lot of youtube vids, and I wouldn't pay to watch any. I might pay to support a group who releases a DVD of their episodes, (but allows you to view them all for free i.e. AVGN) but on youtube per episode? I don't think so.

Whoa wait a second, how much of the income does the creator actually get? I'm thinking this is Google's idea to start generating revenue in order to pay off Viacom for all the shit they're in right now.

Half the crap on youtube you can't get out of the states, blocked because of my country - Australia. Right.

Now this? I knew they were talking about pay for a while, but I always assumed it was just for movies or something long/large where I could understand at least a little. But anyone cay charge for a video, even if its about a turtle walking across the grass?

I can't get within 10ft of youtube here at work, but does it explain anywhere who the money goes to? Does it go to the content creators and if so, does it all go to the content creators or is some of it/all of it going to Google?

"Providing content owners a new way to generate revenue on the site..."
Doesn't say what kind of cut youtube takes though.
