Favorite Dreamcast Titles

Post by BlueMonkey5 »

Well, I just joined this thing and figured I'd start it off the right way, with some discussion about the Dreamcast. So I figured that anyone can list their favorite Dreamcast game. I was looking around for Sega forums and I was surprised that I did not see anything about Skies of Arcadia. Maybe I just overlooked it, I'm sure... but without a doubt, my favorite game, and one of my favorite RPG's for that matter. Anyone else?

Another question... does anyone know if their are any other indie developers currently making games for the Dreamcast? Is their some kind of underground stockpile of new Dreamcast titles that's not publicly known?

Also, what's up with these Dreamcast Developer Kits Set 4 and 5, (also seen it called Dev Box HKT-01), is this what people are using to make new Dreamcast titles??? ...maybe this is top secret stuff or something

Dude. You are seriously out of the loop with the Dreamcast scene. Yes, there are people developing Super Nintendo, NES, Genesis, Atari, Gameboy, and even Sega Saturn emulators along with homebrew for Dreamcast.

Check out http://dcemulation.org and http://dcemu.co.uk. They are both the authorities on Dreamcast.

As Dreamcast is my favorite console, these are also my favorite games

Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Jet Grind Radio
Phantasy Star Online
Space Channel 5 (+Part 2)
Shenmue
Shenmue II
Grandia II
Skies of Arcadia
Samba De Amigo
Headhunter
Quake III Arena
Unreal Tournament
Half Life

...and I'm probably forgetting many, many more.

If it's Resident Evil, it's better on DC than any other console.

Code Veronica sucked ass on PS2 (though I will admit the GC version is probably a straight DC port).

Capcom admitted to the DC having the highest poly counts of any version of Resident Evil 2 (INCLUDING the GC version). It also had tons of unlockables.

Resident Evil 3 for Dreamcast was a straight Windows CE port of the PC version, complete with way higher poly counts, shit tons of unlockables, and other badass-eries.

I'd like to add Soul Calibur to the list. I can't tell you how many classes I skipped in college to play this game. And, to this day, I still like to fire up the Dreamcast and whip some ass with Mitsurugi.

At the time, Namco admitted that they surprised themselves with how well Soul Calibur turned out. The DC version was greatly improved over the original Soul Edge, in the arcades. Plus the Mission Mode gave it SO much more depth than any previous console fighter.

Sonic Dash will come to Dreamcast, also Giana Sisters, http://www.gianas-return.de will have a DC port.

Space channel 5 part 2 with english speak excist.

We can hope for a shenmue 1 with japanese speak and english subtitle.

Also we can hope for a SEGAGAGA in english (but for the moment, that´s to much to hope for :( )

My favorites on Dreamcast;

Soul Calibur
Lack of Love
Mars Matrix
Typing of the Dead
House of the Dead 2
Bangai-o
Street Fighter 2 X
Street Fighter 3 3:rd strike
D2
Illbleed
Elemental Gimmick Gear
Skies of Arcadia
Grandia 2
Crazy Taxi
Sega Rally 2
Tekken 3 (Bleemcast)
Dead or Alive 2 (Jap vesion)
Headhunter
Sword of the berserk
Rayman 2
Giga Wing
Carrier
Triggerheart Exelica

And the list goes on....

EDIT: And of course, Wind & Water, the best puzzle game, everyone should buy it.

Skies of Arcadia

I think in that order.
