What Are The Qualities Of An A+ Student?

Post by davidthefat »

What are the qualities that make an A+ student?

I need help on this section of my life. I always have been a very brilliant guy, but never the model student. All my teachers have given the exact same comment regarding my academics ever since elementary: "David is has a lot of potential, he is a very smart guy, he is just very lazy" Now old habits are hard to break, but what can I do to be a better student? I never really studied in my life, I do not know how. According to my counselor, my GPA is 3.1, that is no where near I want it to be. I got until the end of this semester to get my grades up. I have been just coasting through school every since I began schooling. (I am a Junior)

Here is a list of qualities that I think a good students have:
Drive, motivation.
Great time management.
Self Discipline

Those are the only two I can think of, which I lack. I fixed my habit of not doing my homework, I do it every day, but that still did not help much. I have goals in life, but I can not find the passion in school work that I find in other aspects of my life. I seek knowledge, but I only seek what I want. I do not want to know who the presidential candidate for the Whigs in the 1848 election was or what television means in Spanish. That is a major flaw in my personality. Today I learned that actually looking at the examples given in the book helps ALOT... I am such an idiot. Now football season is over, so I have no excuse of blaming football practice for the lack of time to do homework, in fact I have extra time compared to other students because the lack of 6th period. I have a long way to mature.

Now I am the type of person that finds something I love, I stick with it all the way. I am 100% sure I am going to be a Computer Programmer when I grow up, I made that choice in 8th grade. I always knew I wanted to be a scientist ever since elementary. I picked up a C++ book when I was 11 and I was hooked since then.

I believe that if I just motivate my self and manage my time well, I will do great in school. I just need help on that.

Knowledge is useless if not put into action.

BTW I am an INTJ, if that helps

In my opinion, letting go of the idea that you can fix a lifelong trend in a semester is a good way to start. By giving yourself that "omg I must do better!" mentality, you'll find that the stress will actually discourage you from studying on those nights you may actually need to, or worse, you'll feel like your attempts at becoming a better student are futile the first time you don't get the grade on a select assignment.

I think it's obvious that you'd like to do better by your multiple threads in regard to school work. We get that. But the truth is, while posting and stating your objectives may seem like a healthy way to kick your ass into gear, you are actually offsetting your drive for motivation onto the forums, or worse, us. Motivation should be a silent battle and come from within in order to be truly won--posts like these just simply show that you're too afraid to actually start that battle, or you've already lost.

Either way, you shouldn't be spending your time here, with us. What you need to do is go out and find yourself a fresh new batch of porn, new clothes, hard drugs, an excess of erasers, Jolly Ranchers, a half eaten bag of skittles, and 12 ounces of anti-arachnid spray. And, if you ever get the chance, maybe study every now & then.

I find that talking about getting motivated to do things is just putting the metaphorical pussy on a pedestal. There's a point where it becomes procrastination. Get a game plan as soon as possible and jump the fuck in. The hardest part is getting started. Once you're in the zone, turn on the Rock music, drink your coffee, and ride that high until your shit is pristine. :)

I'm really glad I'm not in school anymore and faced with these decisions...

Hey, I've got zombie repellant, but even Bill's Apocalypse Survival Emporium doesn't have any anti-arachnid spray.

My opinion is that A+ student worked so hardly. They have already prepared their all subject. they would be a perfect student because they know very well if they do not work hard they can not get a good marks in examination. Many multiple threads in regard to school work. They consider that what should we do, and to be made a perfect student.
