3D first person shooter video (early build)

Post by spirit bomb! »

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9nG-cplOjQ

So i've posted on here for a bit when I was doing 2d dark gdk games. Now I have evolved and stopped using the game dev kit and have gone to direct3D. Although this video will not be too impressive, I am rather proud of it. I've got basic a.i., good user input, basic physics, and some game objects.

I still love 2d games, but if you guys try 3d, I'm sure you'll like it. Oh yeah and I have to thank Gyro-Vorbis and his adventures in game development series (yeah I'm blaming you for this, haha). T'waz ample inspiration.

Tell me what ya'll think.

Yeah the domos are so funny looking I had to put them in. I actually got their texture from a do-it-yourself domo box cutout.

Thanks for all the support, this has to be one of the few forums that is without trolls.
And subscribers give me a lot of motivation, so thanks.

Also if you are or know anyone who is interested in working on a 3d game, please drop me a line. We are accepting ambitious people across the board: Coders (should know c++, and would be great if they know DirectX, but is not necessary), modelers, concept artists, texture makers, animators, even musicians.

This project will not stop until it is the greatest game of all time. <- should get some flame for that.
So anyone who would join a dev team without pay (yet that will change), but wants to do something overly ambitious, join.

I have no problem with your hopes and dreams, but making empty promises isn't going to help your case.
You have a nice prototype going on, but I don't foresee you rolling in dough any time in the near future, no offense. ;)

With that said, good luck on the project and keep us updated on the progress.

Not at all, but promising someone if they hop in your spaceship you'll bring them to a star could make for a not-so-pleasant ride. Especially if you never make it out of Earth's atmosphere.

dandymcgee, I will promise you a copy of Duke Nukem Forever  . But seriously, I love criticism, it is the best motivator. It is going to happen, because I believe it so.

have been tracking this thread a little, but I didn't actually watch the vid till now. It's looking really good! My only suggestion at this point is to make the bullets a little smaller. They can still be cubes, but if they were smaller it wouldn't block the view as much. This could really become something great, I think!
Quit procrastinating and make something awesome.

I promise never to promise you that I will promise you that I will promise you that you will fail. I promise that if I do, you will likely succeed. Perhaps I cannot promise you that you will succeed nonetheless, as such a promise could never be promised by me; yet I can promise that if you promise yourself never to promise yourself that will will not fail, you will be better prepared not to fail at succeeding.

Good Luck.
