PS2 Media Center?

Random irrelevance that just didn't fit into other forums. Talk about anything.

PS2 Media Center?

Post by epicasian »

Since there is an HDD and network adapter for PS2; is there a media center application that allows music and movies to be played off of the network and an HDD?

Thanks,
~Asian

By "application" do you mean legitimate, Sony licensed software, or do you mean a homebrew application for a modded PS2?

SURELY the PS2 scene has cooked something up. Dreamcast has DCDivX which allows it to stream videos over the network...

I meant homebrew. I've googled, but haven't found anything yet.

EdiT: I remember the website SKSapps give links to a BUNCH of PS2 homebrew apps. Just thought I'd link to them:

I know that there was an official Sony released Linux, but I've heard it's harder than crap to get a hold of. Or is there a community released version as well?

I'm pretty sure debian runs on it (goes by BlackRhino).

This should help link.

Interesting that this popped up, I'm going to be working on putting together a media server full of win.

http://xbmc.org/skins/ (for prettiness)

Originally started out as a media server running off the original Xbox, has since grown to run off of pretty much anything. Search on www.lifehacker.com for some amazing tutorials. :)

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!
