I started with C++ and moved to C# later on. I had a LOT of trouble grasping some of the concepts of C++ on my own when I first started out and I would often take long breaks going back to AutoIt Script (the scripting language that got me into programming) then trying C++ again when I regained my motivation. I'm sure there's an easier way, but I don't know what it is. You really just have to keep going at it, taking breaks when needed along the way, until you are able to start creating projects bigger and bigger than the last. Experience is the only way you can truly learn programming, or anything for that matter.
