So... guess who is a software engineer?

Random irrelevance that just didn't fit into other forums. Talk about anything.

So... guess who is a software engineer?

Post by Falco Girgis »

I start making the big bucks Monday. Kendall and I both got hired by ADTRAN, a local telecommunications company writing embedded software on PPC/MIPS architectures.

Congrats yet again, would you mind sharing what the interview was like for those of us aspiring developers whom may never of been on an interview for such work?

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!

Financial security is freakin' awesome. I just put in an offer on a house myself. It's great moving forward without homework creeping around all the time. :P

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!

Congratulations to you both!! I remember when I first joined the forum and you said, "Wow, a software engineer!" when I told you my job title...and look at you now! :)

Monday is the first day of the rest of your life, my friend. All of your hard work is paying off.

Cheers.

Congrats, it's good to see programmers of all creeds (be it computer science, software engineering or whatever else) making it in the big bad world
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I can program pretty well, it's my compiler that needs convincing!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now a joke to lighten to mood :D

I wander what programming language anakin skywalker used to program C3-PO's AI back on tatooine? my guess is Jawa :P

Thanks everyone. I'm so stoked. Sooooo damn ready to never do schoolwork again and get on with real development.

That's exactly where I DON'T want to work. I interviewed with several.

EDIT: It was an 8-hour all-day interview (plus super fancy, expensive free lunch) for both Kendall and myself. Lots of low-level C vs C++ questions and lots of object oriented design questions. Oh, and lots of threading questions.

Congrats to you both!

Just hope it leaves you enough free time and energy to keep developing ES. Personally, I often can't wait to get out of the office and onto my own projects - your own projects will seem so much more fun than what your being paid to work on :D.
