I'm a decent player, definitely not tournament material, but I really enjoy a good game. I typically enjoy 5 min games, and am at my peak playing white and a variation of Queen/King's gambit.

I know that MDK, StealthAsimov and a few others from IRC have chess.com accounts, so jump aboard the goddamn bandwagon and play me sometime! Besides, it's therapeutic...

I know how to play chess (i.e.- how the pieces move, where they are positioned at the beginning, and how you win) but I have absolutely no idea what good strategies are. I always wanted to learn though so maybe i'll give it a shot.

I made an account, but I really suck... me and Firzen_ from IRC were playing the other day, and I told him he'd whoop me, and he did...

Nothing spectacular. :P

On chess.com's highly inflated system, it fluctuates between 1200-1300.

In real life, no idea.

I enjoy chess every so often, but I don't go in as far to know all the moves. :P My uncle is pretty dammed good at chess, I've heard some interesting stories but I don't have time to say them now. I suppose I could do a few games, but it's likely I'm not going to last haha.

Judging by the games we've played, I'd say 1200-1300 is pretty accurate IRL as well.

And for those of you who don't know, Winawer is ~1900 IRL, has done tournaments and has 10+ years exp.

So if you feel like getting your ass handed to ya on a silver platter, try him. A pretty elite strategist.

I'm totally enjoying the 1. e4 opening, now.

And, when playing with somebody very unfamiliar with chess, it feels like 1. e4 leads to much quicker games than when I do 1. d4. It feels alot more aggressive, too. I guess I just really like grabbing all of that space on my opponent's kindside.

Anyway, I believe I may enter my first tournament on May 29. I will get raped, of course, but I will enjoy doing it! :P
