I'm not really sure how this forum works, so forgive me if I got it wrong. I saw 1st_Movement's request for a Skies of Arcadia Legends review, for the GameCube. I always wanted to try the GC version... I heard that a big difference from the Dreamcast version was that the air battles during flying (fighting monsters) was drastically cut-down, plus other stuff like a larger story line and more cut-scenes with new characters were added.

But with those aside, I did play the DC version, and it was just awesome! I mean, really, the story and characters really take you in within the first few hours of the game, gives you a good connection to the characters and keeps it going all the way through; and well, in my opinion, those are the elements of a strong foundation for a great game. And Skies has that. So, yea, I really liked it. I fell in love with the characters and thought the story, along with the game play, was laid out very well and was a lot of fun to play and get into. It definitely draws you in and you feel like you're walking away with something at the end, which is exactly what a good RPG does. And I hear that the GC version is an improvement upon the already great original, so I can't see how anyone can go wrong with this one. So, strap on your cutlass, man the decks, and get ready to explore the open skies!!

Dude, I have seen/played the GC version. You aren't missing anything at all.

The only thing worthwhile was the additional quests at the end. That's it.

Other than that, the sound quality sucks ass (they tried to put two 1.2GB DC discs on a single 1.5GB Lamecube disc). The Dreamcast (with VGA cable) was also capable of 480p (whereas the GC was 480i). The GC version supposely has a slightly, molecularly upgraded poly count, but it's not enough to notice, and the DC on VGA certainly looks a million times better regardless.

The DC version also had the VMU quest, which I thought was pretty badass. It was called "Pinta's Quest," and you got to level up your little Pinta ship and get some rare items. The DC also had downloadable content from the Skies website (which is in the GC version without doing anything). It's still not a problem, you can download the DLC for the Dreamcast version from onlineconsoles, gamefaqs, or by messaging me or Peter.

The Dreamcast version is still totally the best.

I found out about this game while looking up dream cast maracas on ebay. I haven't seen any advertisement or promotion for it (or even heard of it) anywhere else. Anybody have this game [wii] that would recommend it?

Woot! got the red egg!
