A great local wiki tool

Post by gamenovice »

Hey guys!

I thought I'd share a great tool I found for organizing your thoughts into a small local wiki for yourself [or you can also set it up on dropbox or versioning for collab]. It's called zim-wiki and you can find it here: http://www.zim-wiki.org/

It's great for not just note jotting, but setting up a wiki for your game in general, and its especially easy to learn, and wont take more than a day to get started. This is especially useful for say... RPGs with epic story lines or mechanics that conventional note taking cant capture.

lemme know if you want me to post a video on this subject or something. I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts on this.
without code, we wouldnt have life as we know it...

Interesting. I actually did some research on wikis earlier this week for Elysian Shadows. I was looking specifically for a web-based PHP solution though, so I didn't come across this. The wiki software I settled on is called WikkaWiki. If you're looking for a web-based simple wiki software I would recommend it. Even though the project is not really maintained anymore the architecture is simple and easily customizable if you know PHP. http://www.wikkawiki.org/HomePage

Damn this zim wiki is great!
I haven't used it for my game yet (since i just started rewriting it 2 weeks ago  )
but it's mad good for just staying organized.
I'll take a look at WikkaWiki later since I'm taking web development next year and should have a decent engine by then.
See that?.....
Exactly
