Nah, he's still sitting at a head position on the board, and his successor has been working with/for Jobs for a good 6 years. I don't foresee any drastic changes to Apple's success in the near future.

People are retarded. Yeah, Apple is going to spiral completely out of control just because Steve Jobs isn't going to be around to unveil the next shitty iPad gimmick?

He was a public icon. He was one of the founding members. Even so, I sincerely doubt that he played as big of a role in the actual company as people like to believe.

Its a big deal. Not an Apple killer or anything but still a big deal. The culture he built in Apple should sustain it for now, but it will not endure unless Cook can keep it alive on his own merits.

Apple was turned around by three products over the last 10 years (iPod, iPhone, iPad). Thats a few extremely good ideas which were well executed. Cook has to find the next good idea and foster it to make any appreciable difference. Otherwise he's going to be another Ballmer, basically keeping up the store but not adding anything new.

Hope Tim Cook won't repeat the same mistakes as Steve Jobs did by dissallowing 3rd party companies to make apps, putting flash on those damned things, and allowing for pornographic apps. I was tired of Steve's strict policies. People have also complained saying that under Steve's watch Apple rarely ever did anything to contribute to charities aside from throwing old discarded iphones/itouches to the needy. Hope Tim will turn things around. Good riddence Steve Jobs!

I think it is a bit more than that, especially since there is some precedence here.

When Steve left the first time, left might not be the right word, but anyways, the company went downhill faster than a Jamaican bobsledder. When Steve came back he turned the company around. With that reference frame seeing Steve step down can cause some worries.

With that being said I dont think apple is likely to go anywhere soon. I thought the stock would drop 10% that first day, but it stayed steady. So the future looks bright, as the most valuable company in the world, apple has a fair amount of time to kill before anything serious happens.

Not sure if that was sarcasm, steve saved apple, I hope tim learnt some things from him, might wanna look into how pixar came to be. as for philanthropy, pfffttt. steve keep your money. Just shows how fucked up people are for having the audacity to complain if someone does not give to charity, its a disgrace to feel entitled to someone else's money. Also, philanthropy is meaningless if your name is published on a list. its not suppose to be a competition. If you make your donation public you are doing it for other reason that trying to help people.

But your post pretty much is a summation of what I have come to expect from you.
