ES Dev Team: Web Development Position Open

Postby Falco Girgis on Mon Oct 15, 2012 1:08 pm

As I just posted to the Facebook group, we are looking for a web developer to join our dark brotherhood.

Facebook Page wrote:We still require quite a bit of work on our new site, but we have nobody to take the wheel and drive. The basic layout, template, and back-end have been established. We need somebody with Joomla experience and a little bit of trendy front-end magic to help us finish up. If you think you have the drive and the skillset, the dark brotherhood of ES would love to work with you!

I would like to reserve this topic for interviewing/posting resumes. Please tell us about yourself and link us to your previous works.

We also would like for you to have a look at http://elysianshadows.com and tell us 1) what you think 2) what you would change and 3) what you could bring to the table. You won't hurt our feelings as we are all well aware of the fact that the site is half-cooked in its current state. ;)

Greetings,
My name is Jovan Soldatovic, i am 18-19 years old. I am from Serbia, Belgrade.
I am Web Developer, i am self thought also i always look forward to learn something new.
I have been watching ES episodes and following your work since you began working on this project, i like game development, i had my self a game development project for Android game, Apotheosis, though we were using already made toolkit, but it was fun :)
I have alot of experience with websites which use Joomla, all versions, i started working with joomla on version 1.5 my first website was Sremac Link: http://www.sremac.org.rs i have been updating it since then ... to latest version.
I am Front End, Back End developer for few more projects going on. I like improving websites, adding new staff to websites, posting things. Improving modules, making easier for a viewer to do something on site, and in same time enjoy his stay on website.

My opinion is that every viewer deserve to see the website on different way, for example if you would login on website, and you get bored of all that linking and ads around you. What would you do? press X, X, X and continue like that, on other hand somebody like that... To get website on some base level its always good to make it as much as you can user friendly... So pools, constant user interface with website will be answer, what do they want to see... I mean this is some kind of philosophy and i am sure you know it but still...

My skills:
I have skills in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS...
I specialized my skills in CMS, i like doing modifications on already made CMS, improving them or just making totally customized one for special needs.

I have around 5 years of experience in Web Development.

My Work:

Sremac http://www.sremac.org.rs
Soldat Transport LLC http://www.soldattransportllc.com
High School Websites http://www.hem-tex-skola.com/ - http://www.tehskolasabac.edu.rs/
A Auction Trading Website http://www.limundo.rs - http://www.kupindo.rs
World of Warcraft Private Server CMS FusionCMS 5,6 Version ( I was working with Jesper Lindstorm from sweeden )
And a tons smaller websites... Uploading, sharing plug in, scripts... ( I can post part of scripts, i am doing right now Drag and Drop Jquery Plug in for my personal project( its for my college server )).

If you would like to contact me:
Email: squeezeeit@live.com
Skype: squeezee87
FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/Th3.Johny93?ref=tn_tnmn

About your website:
I think its really simple, and user friendly, i like front end look, its simple but effective.
I would like to add few things on it, more socialized user friendly register system, social network of ES in site itself, so user can communicate and share their own opinion easily with you.
Create a ES community on higher level, bigger base of fans, more SEO Friendly Joomla System.
Also i would like to work on back end administration of joomla, where i would make it a totally different administrator panel but easier for use.
I would add several modules to front end, like smaller module gallery, widgets, Ideas, pools, forum integration news to joomla and alot of more to make site more user friendly...

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Kind regards,
Jovan Soldatovic

Hey,

I actually posted a link to my site on your FB post today; I just didn't get around to making a forum post (it's been a long day.)

I'm Paul you can check out my portfolio here (it's pretty out of date, but it should answer most of your questions). You can check out my last project here (full design and Wordpress theme from the ground-up).

Currently, your site looks like it's a stock business template where someone just modified the header graphic. I don't know what changes you had in mind for the back-end, but it doesn't look like much or any template code needs to be modified. I'd stick to what you have and just hack away at your style sheets. I'm more of a wordpress guy myself, but I have worked with Joomla.

I'd also like to leave an asterisk at the end of this application. I'm taking on a full course load at uni, working a part time job, and also working on paid projects. If you have a strict deadline, I am not the guy for you.

Fastest way to get in touch is via email paul@20thirty.com

Squeezee is now trying his hand at a modified site template to enable us to present content more effectively to our audience. If we like this template, we will begin releasing this content.

We are well aware of the fact that the current site is borderline incoherent. New visitors will not know whether we're making a game, a Toolkit, or what the goal of the entire project is. We seek to draw a line between "Elysian Shadows" the game and our SDK, providing useful information on both with the new site.
