For those of you who have never played the original, this is still one of my favorite RPGs ever. Unfortunately, it's now pretty pricey on Ebay (I got a good deal on this one). The game has so much personality and so much adventure. I remember this coming out the same Christmas that the PS2 launched, and being so hooked on it that I wouldn't leave the N64 and play the PS2...

Paper Mario is epic, good purchase.

This is the first handheld FPS ever made, and was one of the first FPSs ever, period. It even featured up to 16 player multiplayer. I ran into one of the programmers of the game the other day commenting on a Youtube video of it. He was talking about what a nightmare it was to do a lot of that stuff on the original Gameboy and what an impressive technical feat it wound up being. I remember being 7 years-old and playing this in the car 4-player with 4 gigantic brick gameboys and link cables... I bought two. One for Marx Chaotix and one for me.

This is still one of the earliest video games I ever remember playing when I was little. Ah, the nostalgic memories :) And also thank you Gyro.

I played paper mario a little over the summer a couple of years ago... Great game! When/if I ever decide to make an RPG (likely) then it will be a primary source of inspiration.

I'm keeping my eye out for paper mario, I think $20 is a little steep for one with a meh condition. I always scope out flea-markets for games, primarily old cartridge ones, a few weeks ago I got Rocket Knight Adventures for $5 in really good condition, really proud of it... Now I just need to get a good Genesis :p

Wacky Worlds (Genesis):

Wacky Worlds is essentially the Mario Paint of the Genesis. You play through several different "worlds" (game modes) with a mouse... doing things like composing music, drawing comics, and other funky shit. It doesn't have quite the depth that Mario Paint did, but it's still a very fun classic for anybody who grew up with a Genesis...

I remember staying up all night drawing penises out of sprites back in the day at Peter's house... Aaaah to be young...

Huh, I never heard of that before. Sounds pretty badass... I miss Sega's reign and the battle between them and Nintendo and how we just got epic games as a result.

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!

Alrighty, it's everybody's favorite day... MY PAYDAY. Which means it's time to update this thread...

Pandemonium 2 (PSOne):
Image
This one is actually a birthday present for Kendall. She introduced me to Pandemonium 1, which was an amazing 2D platformer set in a 3D world. They kind of remind me of the Crash Bandicoots if the mechanics were purely 2D. The original was for the Saturn and Playstation... so of course we had to purchase it for the Saturn. Unfortunately they dropped Saturn support with the sequel, so I had to grab this bad boy for the Playstation. If you have never played either Pandemonium, you pretty much owe it to yourself to get off your ass and give them a try.

Sonic Jam (Sega Saturn):
Image
I decided that after blowing a lot of money on every other Sega console, it's high time to give my Sega Saturn some love. Sonic Jam is the ULTIMATE Genesis Sonic collection. It has Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles ALONG WITH tons of extra unlockables like the comic books, concept art, instruction manuals, cartoons, commercials etc. It even features a fully 3D overworld, which is just plain epic. Since Sonic Xtreme never happened on Saturn, the 3D overworld of Sonic Jam is kind of the closest thing we ever got to a true 3D Sonic on the Saturn...

Since the Saturn can be modded to play burned discs with a single piece of scotch tape, I've played this one before. It was pretty pricey on Ebay, but it's a definite must-have for any Saturn collector...

The Toolkit was always better off on the Genesis anyway...

I just need to figure out how to handle invoke engine... We're in the middle of developing an ethernet adapter for the Genesis.

Spent waaaaaaaay too much money this time, but I couldn't resist. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you (as far as I know) the rarest Dreamcast peripheral of all:

DreamKara (Dreamcast Karaoke):

I don't have too much info on it other than the fact that the game it was bundled with was the only one to ever support it. This was also an import from Japan, of course.

Can't wait to dev with this fucker... maybe a sing-off will happen against a boss in the Dreamcast version...

Haha, soon you'll be paying import tariffs for this stuff.
