Hah, I ended up getting an Xbox 360. I sold all my crappy DS games and ended up paying 65 for the xbox.

Somewhere, Leonblade is clutching his sixaxis and gritting his teeth. Thank you for that mental image.

Games so far?

Even if it was (and i think it's still got life in it) there are a ton of great games for the system. I say buy it.

With 200 bucks you could buy a ps2 and a bunch of good games. Buy them used, just make sure you check the discs so they are in decent condition. You can probably get the ps2 and 5 or 6 good games along with it. A few I would recommend...

GTA3 (any of them)
Final Fantasy X
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
Megaman Mega Collection(Megaman X as well)
Ratchet & Clank Series
Twisted Metal: Black
Katamari Damacy
Suikoden III, IV
Dragon Quest VIII (Don't even think about getting a PS2 without this game)
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (Port of the dreamcast version)
Need For Speed: Underground 2
Metal Gear Solid 2

The list is practically ENDLESS. Also, don't forget that the PS2 is backwards compatible with PS1 games. This is good news, especially if you're an RPG fan. A few great games of that generation to note...

Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX
Final Fantasy Anthology (V & IV, also known as III if you're from the SNES generation)
Final Fantasy Chronicles (This comes with a Chrono Trigger Port and Final Fantasy IV, two GREAT games)
Final Fantasy Tactics (Worth its own line in this list)
Suikoden I, II
Grandia
Lunar I, II
Metal Gear Solid
Crash Bandicoot (pretty much all of them)
Twisted Metal II
Resident Evil I, II, Nemesis
Xenogears (arguably one of the greatest RPG's ever)

I could go own all day & night with great PS1/PS2 games. But instead of delaying you with reading this post you should get up now and go buy that PS2. For PS1 games I would recommend checking ebay. Go forth young one.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and Kingdom Hearts I and II are also great PS2 games. If you haven't played it, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy has gameplay similar to a combination of Ocarina of Time and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Definitely worth the $5 you'll spend on it :)

I own both versions. I beat it for PS2 before I even owned my first Dreamcast. When I got it and my Dreamcast, I was like OMFG WTF!?!? ITS BETTER ON DREAMCAST!?!?

And I approve of your taste in PS2 games. You just named nearly all of them that I own.

Agreed. That was actually one of the first games I had for Dreamcast. Let it be known that the AIGD series has inspired me to bring my Dreamcast out of retirement. Instead of Halo and Smash brothers we'll be playing Quake III arena and Virtua Tennis.
