Re: Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword?
I do like that enemies were enhanced to require tact in defeating them. I still dislike the motion control. I think the tact could have been achieved with a traditional control scheme.

Re: The politics of Software Engineering
I read the whole thing, and I'm not sure where I stand. Everything is so circumstantial. My attitude shifts depending on the product: its urgency, technology, target market, etc.

Re: SDL 2.0
I'm glad SDL is moving forward, but I'm tired of C frameworks. I'm investigating SFML to see if I like the API.

Re: Are you kidding me?
Pardon my ignorance, but how would you gracefully handle an exception error with a simple if...else ? Wouldn't the exception cause the app to crash? The only alternative would be to identifiy every possible scenario for bad parameters and elimitate them. In exception-driven languages, you cannot st...

Re: The Future and High-level programming.
Low level programming will exist forever. Someone has to build those platforms for others to program on. Even if AnyoneCanProgramScript (ACPS) comes out tomorrow, someone has to build and expand the interpreter and APIs. As computers become faster, there will indeed be less need to write low level c...

Re: College.
I think I've mentioned this in another thread somewhere. Regardless, I'll say it again. I participate in the hiring process now at my job. I've been through many applicants by this point. I can essentially confirm what has been said in this thread. We've hired people with and without degrees. We've ...

Re: SDL_Mixer NOT WORKING??
I gave up on SDL_Mixer. I reached a point where it flat out would not work in either Linux or Windows. Plus, even when it was working, the program added like 3 full seconds to both startup and shutdown of the program. I moved to OpenAL, which turned out to be much simpler to setup than I originally ...
