It was the only one I could find. I'll do some preliminary testing on my phpbb localhost setup if Gyro gives the go code on giving this a shot.

Re: random numbers
No one can really tell you whats wrong without more code. I for one can't see an issue. Random number generators aren't really that random. They are just a bunch of operations designed to look like they give a random number. They all start out from a chosen seed, usually it's the ms since unix epoch...

Re: Allegro Programs keep Freezing and Stop
First, you should check if a file exists, then try to load it. Then check if it's loaded. THEN use the resource. I wouldn't know the exact functions to do this with Allegro though, someone else should be able to help you better. It's as simple as that though, check and triple check everything. Don't...

Re: d3dx10.h: No such file or directory
You've found the include files and told VS where to find them.
Now you need to find the lib/library/static library files and tell VS where to find them.

Cortex Command
They other day I cam across this video, pretty much a special on indie gaming brought from the Independent Games Festival at the Game Developers Conference 2009. There's quite a few little gems they talk about and I thought some people might be interested in seeing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5...

Re: Developer Contest - $100K Prize?!
They should make it so you take a cut of whatever IP you create. Even if it was only 5%, if it's successful then it'd be a nice making. Of course, they'll release one game on it, then version 2 will be "so different" that they'll wiggle themselves out of it legally somehow, and eventually ...

Re: Question On Bytes and Sockets
a byte is just a word that means 8 sequential bits. The standard just tells that a byte is the smallest word. It does not tell how much bits it has. Just for completeness ;) Ummm.. wel i might be wrong here, but as far as i know a byte is a byte. It is always 8 bits on any arch. Most platforms are ...

Re: Question On Bytes and Sockets
Yes, you can. a byte is just a word that means 8 sequential bits. the byte int binary 1111 1111 is FF in hex and 255 in decimal (unsigned of course.) a nibble is half a byte, so 4 bits. ;) Thanks I can always rely on you, so I can just send raw Binary or Hex though it? 1111 1111 is FF is 255. They a...

While I can't vote for the team, tell me, what possible advantage is there to use DX over OGL for Windows? i could be seriously wrong, please correct me if i am, most video hardware is targeted towards Microsoft's API which makes more sense in my head as the most desirable approach Wrong, and right....

Re: Good sandbox games?
Oblivion is really good, I've yet to get any of the addons, but the one bad thing I do notice is the fact that it freezes quite a bit. Luckily, the thing autosaves pretty regularly. Get the latest patches, then get a few mods. You'll want the unofficial community patch that fixes over 1,400 bugs. T...
