Re: Rate my sprite/advice needed

I like it. One thing a little off is that his belt seems to melt into his suit on the sprite (on the left side), whereas it looks like more pronounced on the drawing. Though it depends on the style and context you're going for. The sprite looks more like he's wearing a halloween costume whereas the ...

Re: Why does SDL & OpenGL main have parameters

I'd keep them in every program. If nothing else, you at least get to feel like a professional bad-ass by including them ;)

You mean for a career in game development? I have no idea. It couldn't hurt.
But it's useful in some cases. For example, if you want to see your games on the Android OS, I believe you need to write them in Java.

Re: How do YOU structure your game engine(s)?

It could be the lack of clarity in the first post. I for one am confused if what they have replied with is not what you are not looking for. : I think I see what's up. He's asking for ideas on how to structure a game engine by asking how we structure ours. And everyone's telling him to just go with...

First, I'd like to say that your project looks pretty amazing so far. Second, I'll be waiting for that update.

I think when you said "procrastination" at the head of this topic, you meant a little bit less so than myself...;p I'm the type of person who will put an entire month research paper off until the night before...Start at 9:00 at night, stop to play starcraft, decide fuck it, sleep, get up ...

Re: SFML

I've only been using SFML for a little while, but from what I've seen so far, it lets you get things going with just the basics of what you need or get very involved in specifying what you want it to do. For example, you can create a sprite and set its position in a line or two, but you can also spe...

My first game was a text-based 2 player tic-tac-toe game written in c++. The biggest problem was finding someone to play it with. And then I lost. But it was a good experience.

I'd say contact the rights holders (the publishers, maybe?) of the music that you're going to be using and see what they say. Of course, that could take quite a while.

Re: Maintaining The Focus And The Ambition

Get some sweet hardware to program for. Speaking of, my DS is calling me. Sometimes all it takes for me is to look back at what I've accomplished in the past. Also helps with creative writing. What I do is, I pick a night, usually on the weekend, all week I get real stoked about it, and I work a lit...
