Re: Barbie is now a computer engineer!

I was wondering the same thing... they seem to have already screwed up the computer. So according to the Barbie folks, we code in and read everything in binary on a regular basis? Haha, yeah, thats one of my hobbies is to not use editors, not to type source code, not to compile int object code...

Re: Im a noob i know

ONLY 10 programmers worked on Gears of War??!! They must be super good Are you familiar with Brooke's Law? “Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later” This is because the number of programmers increases linearly but the connection between these programmers and the comple...

Re: Adventures in Game Development

I'm actually going to a headphone party tonight, so I'll likely come in about 2am UK time, so if I'm still awake by then I could probably join any convos and heck I might even stay up and watch ESR 2 when it goes live. just out of curiosity, what is the UK equivalent of 12am in the ES teams timezon...

Re: J-fail: Unstoppable

Oh and we've raised our expectations for Unstoppable. It will make at least $220k gross revenue. I'm dead serious. 8-) It will nearly double the highest selling game currently on Xbox Indie which has essentially the same concept. Yes, this surely seems feasible. You can make that much off of a kirb...

Re: The new Axis of evi... I mean Google making a new OS?

No no no no no, you misunderstood me. I meant that it will not be commercially popular like Microsoft and Mac. Microsoft and Mac control the commercial desktop computer market. Most desktop computers sold in retail run either Mac OS X or Microsoft with only about 3% (if that) running a linux OS. If...

Absolutely nothing other than the Silver Edition has a lot more memory. There is no difference.

Re: Official "Hello, World! (I'm new!)" thread

Hello World, I'm Zach I'm 12 (Sunday I'll be 13) and I'm pretty knew to the forums but I've been watching the AiGD series from the beginning and it inspired me to learn to program (Which I'm starting this summer do to school). My aunt is also a computer programmer and she has also had a lot of infl...

Re: meet Emily

I think there are too many interpretations of everything put on here recently, I didn't see it like you did (Xian, though you pose a much more reasonable point) cuz of him bashing DevCpp in my signature... Time to let this thread RIP again

Your signature tells everything, dude: http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/6648/888rg1.jpg Also, I do believe that Dandymcgee is 5 years older than you (see the irony?). Aww, bashing the beta. It's a pretty good compiler. Its what I started with and I guess I just never changed [i'm a fuddy duddy]. ...

Re: J-fail: Unstoppable

I'm sorry, I feel as if I may have been too harsh on JForce. If their game comes out, then I will probably buy and play it, but I don't like the arrogance coming out of their asses. What on earth are some of the members of the JForce team doing? Who ever makes their videos apparently doesn't know ho...

Re: Im a noob i know

Your right, I don't know much about python, but from what I have seen, python... cuts corners. But hey, I'm biased. ;) Not saying python is bad or anything, but that... I guess it seems to be more user friendly I'm not putting python down either, but I guess that I would recommend what I know. I gue...

Re: Im a noob i know

Java and Python are kind of like cars.

Java is like a 5 speed manual, and Python is like an automatic. They both do the same thing, but the manual gives you more control and insight into what the car is doing.

Re: Im a noob i know

So was the transition from java to c++ not to bad? If so i think i want to cut out the middle man and start with java and move onto c++ Not to bad. The fact that Java isn't the simplest language means that it gets a lot of concepts that you will confront out into the playing field. I feel like c++ ...
